Playing The Hand You Have Been Dealt-
We are starting a new series entitled “Playing The Hand You Have Been Dealt”
Winning With The Hand You Are Dealt
Life can be likened to a game of cards. We have to live or play with the cards that we are dealt. Like the cards, our lives are full of circumstances that just come along. We don’t choose them, but at the same time we still have to deal with them. For example we don’t choose our parents, our race or our intelligence. In this message, we look at 5 areas of life (or cards) that we have been dealt and use the Scriptures to develop a strategy for how to play them out.

Escaping The People-Pleasing Trap
There are many people that have an approval-addiction. Someone with an approval-addiction will raise the status of another person to the point where they will do whatever it takes to please them for the purpose of gaining their approval. This is also known as being a people-pleaser. Pleasing people can be in direct contrast to pleasing God. The Bible calls it a fear of man. In this message, we look at Biblical solutions to the problem of being a people-pleaser and the benefits of pleasing God.

How To Recognize God’s Voice
Have you heard from God about what concerns you today? A common response is “I can’t say that I have” or “How do I know when I hear God’s voice?” That’s a good question. How can we be sure it is God and not some other voice, the devil, or the pepperoni pizza I had for lunch? The Bible says that God does speak to us so it is important for us to recognize his voice. This message will help us learn to use God’s Word to understand if God is speaking to us or not.

Learning My True Identity in Christ
We are known by our identity. Many of us take certain precautions to keep our identity safe. When we tell someone about our identity, we may include things like what we have done or what we do. Unfortunately, those parts of our identity can be taken from us. In this message, we learn about our true identity in Christ, who we really are. An identify that cannot be stolen or taken away – or can it?

Freedom In Christ
The Bible teaches that we have three enemies, the world, the flesh (that’s us), and the devil. Of these three enemies, the biggest one is not the devil, and it’s not the world, it’s us! We are our own biggest problem. Why is that? Put very simply, we just cannot get away from ourselves. We can get away from the world, and the devil, but we cannot get away from ourselves. Reason is, we always have us with us! Due to our sinful nature, we are our own worst enemy. Who will free us from this life dominated by sin and death? Thank God, the answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord!

When King Jehoshaphat felt overwhelmed (in 2 Chronicles 20), he had victory when he focused on how big God was. He knew that no one, in any condition or circumstance, was any bigger than God. The critical lesson for us is that the bigger we realize our God is, the smaller our problems become. God is powerful. He is in control. Nothing is too hard for him. Problems shrink as our perspective of God expands.

Learning to be Patient
We do not always get what we want, when we want it. The problem is that many of us have not completely accepted that. We do not know how to deal with that effectively, for that matter. In this message, we learn how to deal with impatient situations, patiently.
